A Family Outing

Our family outings have been few these days. Life has been so busy. We worked very hard this year with preschool and piano lessons, Geoff's two jobs, homework, school events, and on and on. It left me exhausted. We didn't take much time to play together. I am determined that this summer will be different. We will have fun together as a family whether they like or not. ;)

A cool Lego exhibit

We went to the Children's Garden and spent a surprisingly short amount of time there. We ate our snack and then left. It made me realize that my days in the Children's Garden and other such places are numbered. It was a little sad. But at the same time, it is nice to not have to chase, follow, and keep track of so many little kids. It feels very relaxed.

Feeding the Koi fish is always the highlight of our trips to the Botanical Gardens. We went through 10 bags of fish food.
My lens cap fell into the water when I leaned over the bridge and a nice man fished it out for me.

Maren had one favorite fish that she was petting (gross) and giving all her fish food to. She tried to shoo away the other fish so he would get it all. He wasn't the brightest of the fish and he needed all the help he could get. That's why she liked him of course.

This duck was standing in a ray of sunlight on the rock. It seemed to be posing for the picture.

Maren's favorite part of the Garden- the succulents

Alec had been complaining how hot he was and how much he wanted to go home. Then he saw this fountain and all of a sudden, life was good again. Everyone watched as Alec performed his antics.

At this point, Geoff decided that the show was over. Time to move on.

Adam finishes Middle School

There's are our boy!

He had strep throat and missed the last day of school.
When the doctor measured him, I found out that he is nearly 5' 8". One more inch and we'll be even. That's about 6 inches he's grown since Christmastime. Wow.
Geoff tried to talk him out of this shirt and tie combo, but Adam insisted that it was okay because blue and green are the school colors at Selvidge Middle School. Besides that, Adam has never worried for a moment of his life about his appearance. Not an exaggeration...

Maren tormenting her brother

Adam tolerates the attention, but looks very uncomfortable.

So of course, Maren gets even more lovable.

Adam is now bigger, but Maren is still the boss. Everyone know this.

Poor kid.

Ah, there. A nice normal picture.

No more braces!

Check out that fantastic smile! My sweet Trevor just got even more handsome.
Next on his To Do List- contact lenses.
He's growing up- going on scout camp outs, passing the sacrament, going to Mutual, and so on.
Soon I'll be the mother of three teenagers. Where does the time go...

Memorial Day Breakfast and BBQ

My silly girls at the Memorial Day ward breakfast

Best buddy Kristen
Trevor led the flag ceremony and was completely terrified by this responsibility. I wasn't sure he would go through with it. (no pics, too busy praying for Trevor) But somehow, amazingly, he got the tears and emotion under control just in time. He may not have been quite loud enough, but other than that it was all good. Ward members and his scouting friends came over to tell him he did a good job. Everyone was so supportive of course. I love that. I hope it helps to give Trevor more confidence for the next time.

Geoff barbecued our favorite BBQ chicken. It was perfect, as usual.
We had some biscuits, fruit, chips, homemade mac and cheese, and salad to go with it. YUM!
For dessert, summer berry crisp warm from the oven, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Aubree's dinner choices- very colorful

Maren adores little Max and is always snatching him away from us.

The girls made some clover chains with roses.

Mitchell doesn't look too happy to be wearing his, but he didn't take it off.
