Labor Day Picnic

Labor Day Picnic at Chesterfield Park
We enjoyed a perfect overcast morning at the park. Last year Labor Day meant a change of weather and the beginning of fall. I wonder if that will be the case this year. We ate donuts, fruit, and breakfast casseroles with the Rockwood 1st Ward. I love this place, with its beautiful paths, bridges, and rocks. It's gorgeous now that we've had some rain. Last weekend it rained quite a lot- the after effects of the Hurricane Isaac. I loved listening to the sounds of it on the roof. This area was in dire need of the moisture, and the rainfall restored some of the water reserves. I think we got 3 inches.

Why can't this child ever remember to take them off before wading through creeks?

This is such an interesting piece of art. The kids love climbing all over it. Adam was sliding down one of the legs. The boys perched up high on one of the knees. (Camera battery was dead for that.)

Trevor invited his friend Buddy to come along to the picnic.
He's a really nice boy. I'm so glad Trevor has found a good friend. He's a lot like Trevor.
He stayed to go to the pool with us. We had to get in one last swim before they close the pool tomorrow.
Check out that little finger. It's looking so much better! Amazing how well that healed...
She's had her finger up in the air like this for quite a while.

Maren thought ahead and brought Cheerios for the geese and fish.
