On our way!

Our trip to Mongolia began at the St. Louis Airport. We were happy to be finally on our way after checking one thousand items off our To Do lists. A mother does not easily slip away. With Brian at home to take care of the Kesner children and Linda (my mother-in-law) at home watching the Barney children, we were feeling pretty good. These smiles faded somewhat over time as we were delayed by weather and missed our connecting flight in Chicago.

We decided to make the best of things since we had nearly a full day to wait. So we toured Chicago! After a confusing start (no one mentioned the blue line was a subway- we took the bus-then eventually the subway) we were in the heart of the city. We ate yummy food at a little restaurant, then wandered among the skyscrapers.
At Millenium park we saw these cool thing called the Cloud Gate. It was drizzling, so the reflection could have been better, but it was still pretty awesome.

At Lake Michigan

 An amazing skyline, right?
We felt like a couple of country girls. The city was so... TALL!

Tawny and I weren't really getting this exhibit. The faces change as do the expressions on the faces. I thought it was strange. We returned to the hotel by subway (have to admit, I was a little scared) and went to bed. I felt like a foreigner in such a big city and felt grateful for our little life in the suburbs.
